National Medical Commission
(
NMC
) has issued a cautionary statement regarding recent reports circulating in both print and electronic media platforms. These reports purportedly pertain to the establishment of new
medical colleges
and the allocation of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) seats in various medical courses for the
academic year 2024-25
.
The NMC has denounced these reports as "baseless" and misleading, emphasizing its commitment to
transparency
and authentic communication. It clarifies that no new medical colleges have been approved, nor have there been any increases in UG/PG
seat allocations
for the upcoming academic year. The Commission stresses that all updates and announcements regarding such matters will be exclusively communicated through its official website, urging stakeholders and the general public to rely solely on this source for accurate information.
Speaking to the Education Times, Dr. B Srinivas, Secretary of the NMC, elucidates that the commission is diligently assessing applications from colleges in accordance with standard regulations. Results will be disclosed once the evaluation process concludes. Additionally, the Medical Assessment & Rating Board (MARB) within the NMC confirms that no approvals have been granted thus far, reiterating the ongoing processing of applications for the academic year 2024-25.
In light of these developments, the NMC advises colleges and stakeholders to refer exclusively to its portal for updates and announcements.
